Night Auditor [Canada]


 

Basic Purpose:
Under the direction of the Operation Manager, the Night Auditor is the Ambassador of guest satisfaction The Night Auditor is responsible for ensuring that exceptional service is provided by problem solving concerns, ensuring effective communication and follow up as required with various guests and departments.

Major Responsibilities and Duties (to fulfill major purpose):

  • Perform the duties of a Guest Services Agent in addition to the below
  • Prepare, check, and correct room rate variances by conducting thorough audits
  • Ensure wake-up calls are set for the morning and check the control sheet to ensure accuracy
  • Prepare. verify and balance daily charges for all departments to customer folios, master accounts and house accounts
  • Run the nightly processing sequence to reset systems for the next days’ use
  • Prepare and transmit credit card deposits
  • Review all credit card vouchers for proper imprints, authorization, ad correct amounts
  • Distribute reports to the applicable departments
  • Keep team informed of all problems, emergencies, and unusual matters of significance
  • Adheres to all established credit and inventory control procedures
  • Audit records and balances food & beverage income postings and charges
  • Present statement of charges to departing guests and receive payment
  • Monitor customer accounts to ensure adherence to hotel credit limits by completing high balance report and verify accuracy of registration information
  • Identify and record special billing instructions and notify Finance
  • · Improve timeliness of cash flow by adhering to all established credit and inventory control procedures
  • Minimize loss of revenue by adhering to all established credit and inventory control procedures
  • Ensure the security of keys, company information, guest information and guest rooms at all times
  • Report unsafe work conditions, areas requiring repair or suspicious person to the Department Head
  • Understand and practice the correct usage and storage of cleaning agents in line with health and safety regulations and manufacturers’ instructions
  • Be aware of the action to be taken in the event of an emergency such as fire in accordance with procedures
  • Treat each individual with respect and fosters a cooperative, productive, positive, and respectful work environment
  • Work and communicate in a professional and ethical manner
  • Assist coworkers where necessary
  • Assist with team member orientation and training as required
  • Maintain standards of punctuality, uniform presentation, and personal hygiene
  • Attend meetings as required and recognize the importance of contributing new ideas and initiative to the overall success of the operation
  • Communicate and cooperate effectively with all departments

  • Other related duties and projects as assigned
  • At times of low occupancy will be required to assist with folding laundry

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required:

  • Excellent guest service
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Strong computer and telephone correspondence abilities with previous experience using Microsoft such as Word and Excel
  • Highly organized, able to multi-task and detail oriented
  • Works well under pressure and without supervision
  • Able to perform well in a fast-paced environment
  • Energetic, honest, self-motivated and flexible
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate with a wide variety of people

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily an office environment
  • Primarily working alone, with no supervision
  • Sometimes exposed to frequently open doors to the outside
  • Fast paced environment that is often demanding and requires problem solving and conflict resolution
  • Stand, walk, and remain on feet to perform job duties for entire shift duration
  • Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping
  • Use of cleaning chemicals
  • Occasionally must handle intense situations such as a fire evacuation or a security breach
  • Overnight shifts 11pm to 7:30am

Experience, Training and Education (demonstrating requirements):

  • 1-year previous guest service experience is an asset
  • 1-year previous front desk or accounting position is an asset
  • Proven basic accounting abilities
  • Previous professional experience requiring the use of a computer is required
  • Diploma in hospitality is an asset
  • WHMIS training can be provided by the hotel
  • Ability to communicate verbally and written in English Advanced

Job Type: Part-time
Part-time hours: 16 per week

Salary: $16.97-$18.47 per hour
